We do not remember signing off on this, but perimenopause has somehow gotten hired at the same company we work for.

And apparently, she is not part-time.

She is in the client call, the staff meeting, the middle of the night when we are wide awake for absolutely no reason, and the closet when our jeans fit differently than they did last Tuesday.

In this episode of The Business Reboot Podcast, we are talking honestly about perimenopause, hormonal changes, business boundaries, people-pleasing, outsourcing, energy, identity, and what happens when your body and your business both start asking for a different way of living.

Because if you are over 40 and wondering why your patience is on airplane mode, your sleep is unpredictable, your tolerance for nonsense has left the building, and fluorescent lights suddenly feel personal, you are not broken. You are not alone. And you may be entering a season where your life and business need to fit the woman you are now, not the woman you have spent decades trying to be.

Perimenopause Is Not Just a Body Conversation

Perimenopause is often talked about like it is only physical. Hot flashes, hormonal changes, brain fog, sleep issues, mood swings — all real, all deeply inconvenient, and all apparently committed to showing up at the least helpful times.

But it is not only happening in our bodies.

It is happening in our calendars, relationships, businesses, friendships, leadership, and capacity.

This season can feel like everything unnecessary is being stripped away. And while that can be uncomfortable, it can also be clarifying. Corry said it this way in the episode: “I don’t think that perimenopause is making us less capable. I honestly think that it’s stripping away everything unnecessary.”

Maybe this season is forcing us to get honest about our time, our energy, our businesses, and our relationships. Maybe for the first time in our adult lives, we are building something that actually fits who we have become.

The End of People-Pleasing as a Business Strategy

One of the biggest shifts in this season is the sudden lack of interest in over-explaining, over-accommodating, and trying to convince people who are not our people.

Melissa said, “I don’t have the energy to over-explain. I’m done trying to convince people. If what I have produced and shown you is not sufficient evidence, then you are not for me.”

And honestly, that is a business boundary sermon.

For years, so many women have built businesses while trying to be likable, flexible, helpful, gracious, impressive, and endlessly available. We have said yes when we wanted to say no. We have treated other people’s urgency like our assignment. We have carried client emotions, professional expectations, family needs, and business pressure as if proving our capacity was the same thing as building a healthy life.

But somewhere in this season, the filter gets sharper.

You recognize toxic clients faster. You notice one-sided relationships sooner. You question fake urgency. You stop treating every request like a command.

Good boundaries are not rude. They are how you protect the business, energy, relationships, and life you have worked hard to build.

Redefining Success

Success also starts to look different in this season.

Maybe it is not the biggest launch, another award, or another follower milestone. Maybe it is eight hours of sleep. A long walk. A strength workout. Time with your family. Being present with your kids. Being there for the grandbaby. Closing the laptop without guilt.

That does not mean ambition disappears.

It means ambition matures.

We still love growth. We still love strategy. We still love seeing women make money and lead well. But success no longer has to require abandoning yourself to prove you are capable.

At this stage, many of us are no longer interested in carrying everything just because we can. We are asking what is actually worth carrying.

Outsourcing Is Not Laziness

This is also the season where delegation starts making a whole lot more sense.

Not because we cannot do things ourselves. Because doing everything ourselves is often the bottleneck.

Outsourcing editing, scheduling, cleaning, groceries, admin, email setup, content formatting, website updates, or graphics is not laziness. It is leadership.

When your energy is not unlimited, you start paying closer attention to what actually requires your voice, your expertise, and your discernment. You stop chasing every shiny object and start focusing on what truly moves the business forward.

The goal is not to be busy. The goal is to build something sustainable, profitable, and aligned with the life you are actually living.

Your Energy Is Information

Perimenopause can make energy unpredictable. Some days you feel clear and ready to go. Other days, you are trying to remember why you walked into the room while wondering if everyone has always been this loud.

But limited energy can become information.

It forces better questions. Does this matter? Does this move the business forward? Is this mine to carry? Is this urgent, or is someone else anxious? Does this still fit the business and life we are building?

Those questions create clarity. And clarity creates better leadership.

Building a Business That Fits Who You Are Now

This stage of life is not asking us to become smaller.

It is asking us to become more honest.

The offers that once made sense may need to shift. The schedule that once worked may need to change. The clients we used to tolerate may no longer be a fit. The way we market, lead, sell, serve, and show up may need to mature with us.

That is not failure.

That is leadership.

A business that cannot evolve with your real life will eventually require you to keep pretending. And at this stage, many of us are simply done pretending.

You Are Not Broken

If you are in this season and everything suddenly feels louder, hotter, tighter, heavier, more annoying, or less tolerable, you are not broken. You are not failing. You are not less capable.

You may simply be in a season where your body, business, and life are all asking for more honesty, stronger boundaries, better support, more rest, deeper clarity, and a business that actually fits the woman you are now.

And probably more humor, because what else are we supposed to do when we are sweating, forgetting words, and reevaluating our entire business model before lunch?

This week on The Business Reboot Podcast, we are talking about perimenopause, business boundaries, outsourcing, people-pleasing, energy, success, and building a life that actually fits who you are now.

Listen to the full episode wherever you get your podcasts, and send it to a friend who has also recently wondered whether her patience, hormones, and jeans are all conspiring against her.
